Description:
24" tapered round barrel of Q.S. Nickel Gun Barrel Steel with flush-banded, hooded front blade sight, sling swivel, and banded rear sight island containing 1 standing, 3 folding and 1 tangent platinum-lined express sights, numbered from 1 to 10 for respective hundreds of yards. Lightly figured walnut stock with horn-tipped slender forend, vacant-silver-escutcheoned horn pistol grip cap, classic point-pattern checkering with mullered borders, rear swivel and hand-checkered trapdoor steel buttplate containing original five-piece cleaning rod. Mauser action, pillar-bedded at rear, with straight-down teardrop bolt handle, Mauser trigger with military take-up removed, original Mauser safety with SAFE inlaid in gold and steel hinged floorplate with release inside triggerguard. Engraved with Jeffrey's distinctive acanthus scroll on floorplate, triggerguard, front and rear receiver rings and a touch on the breech end of the barrel. Never drilled or tapped for scope. Birmingham nitro proofs for 42 grains of cordite and 300 max bullet weight. Pull: 14 1/8". Weight: 8lbs, 10oz. Built in 1912. Retaining 99%+ of a very proper and thorough restoration. Very good bore.
