Description:
Serial #7520, 12mm Pinfire, 6 1/4” octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an attractive, engraved revolver that has all-matching assembly numbers (“4”) with Liege proofs (as well as London “[crown]/V” view proofs on the cylinder) that retains 60-70% of the original blue finish, mostly on the barrel and cylinder. The frame has an overall mottled gray-brown patina with traces of original blue remaining on protected areas and traces of the original straw color remaining on the trigger and hammer. The revolver is “AF” marked (Auguste Francotte) with “E. LEFAUCHEUX/INVR. BREVETE” on the left side of the barrel breech. The finely checkered walnut grips are original and are in fine shape with only light handling marks and small blemishes throughout as well as some minor flattening of the points on either side. Mechanically, the revolver is in excellent condition with a tight lock-up and fully functional action. This is a handsome example of a desirable pinfire revolver, in fine-near excellent condition, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection. {“Systeme Lefaucheux” by Chris C. Curtis; 2002} Antique
