SCARCE ALLEN THURBER & CO. WORCESTER POCKET PEPPERBOX WITH EARLY INTEGRAL SHIELD DATED 1845. Small size with 2 5/8th” five shot .31 cal. barrels. Pocket size walnut grips. Scarce and desirable frame cast with the recoil shield and not added on as on later models. Dated 1845 on barrels and stamped “ALLEN THURBER & CO.” as well as “WORCESTER”. Very good overall with nice original deep patina. Crisp engraving- which is factory. Perfect markings. Working order. 100% original in every respect and quite scarce Gold Rush era pepperbox.
