Description:
Up for sale is a W.C. Scott 12ga hammergun action. The gun was either restocked as a crossover or the original stock was severely bent, then converted from a straight grip to a p.o.w. grip. The barrels although having not been evaluated with gauges does give me concern when visually inspecting them. When looking at the muzzle one can easily see the bores are not concentric, coupled with having been severely honed to remove pitting could make them a lost cause. Due to these barrel issues and the unoriginality of the stock I think this could make a great project. Sleeving in new shotgun tubes? Maybe converting it to a BPE or NE double rifle? Preferably in my shop? The action is in pretty good condition and would yield a very nice vintage looking product. From me it can be stocked to your dimensions and regulated with your loads for a pretty good price depending on what we do. Barrel construction the less expensive way would involve cutting off the barrels just in front of the action, using the remainding barrel stubs like a monoblock. Other options include making additional shoelumps for a more proper appearance or for the purpose of a multi-barrel set. Due to the action size I would recommend a .450"-.50" bore, maybe even a rifled 12ga? I may also have access to this guns fatter sister, a 10ga Scott hammergun for something bigger...maybe a pair of double rifles?
