SA Belt Revolver - Cal. .32 RF - 6" Bbl. - 7 shot - SN 4216 (1861-1862). Bore is about excellent - bright with sharp rifling and only a few very light rough spots. Action is perfect with excellent timing and lock-up. Barrel and cylinder retain about 98% blue with some thinning on the cylinder - barrel shows a couple of light rust spots on the sides near the muzzle and very light discoloration on barrel extension just in front of cylinder. The front sight is a period replacement with dovetail and the ejector rod may also be a replacement. The frame retains about 85% + silver plating - sharp factory engraving - no spotting or damage. Walnut grips are undamaged and retain 98% finish with only slight wear on bottom edges. Only about 5000 to 8000 of the belt revolvers were produced when production ceased in 1863 as a result of a patent infringement suit brought by Smith & Wesson. The belt revolver, especially in 6" barrel was a very popular sidearm purchased by soldiers and officers during the war due to it's cartridge cabability and 7-shot cylinder. This Moore is in excellent ++ condition and all original except for the front sight and possibly the ejector rod. A very scarce and desirable secondary sidearm for the CW and antique collector and retains most all of it's original finish. SOLD Antique: Yes |
