I bought this holster at an estate , which had his father's WW I items. In this holster was a 1899 dated special prize Model 1892 revolver.So it can be reasonablly assumed that this holster is over 100 years old. The holster is still sound and will display well. It looks like a type of black finish was applied sometime in its military life.Many collectors when they hear clamshell holster think of the Japanese nambu. However, it was the French who first develop this type of holster. SALE PENDING
