Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Cashiers Check Description: This rifle dates to the first year the .22 HI Power was added as the Model H Feather Weight take down rifle in 1912 . It features the straight grip , rubber shotgun butt and varnished finish with take down feature and schnoble tip. Stock has the perch belly curve on bottom. This was the only caliber in which take down feature was standard in a model H. The sporting rear sight has the Savage 1911 pat date on it with standard raised metal bead front in the intergral lug. Butt plate has the Savage logo. Barrel is 20". This series was made until 1919. The stampings on the barrel date to 1930-45 or the style 8 barrel stamp so this barrel was replaced sometime before WW11 which is fairly common with the .22 Hi Power as the throat on this hot cartridge burned out very quickly. This bore is in near mint condition so definately a shooter. The "Imp" was the first standard sporting high speed rifle on the market. The velocity was touted at 2800 feet per second shooting a 70 grain bullet. Famed target shooter Walter Winanns won almost every event in 1913 using this rifle and Savage ammo. Condition of this rifle is extremely nice. The factory blue on the barrel is almost 100% . The receiver blue is at least 98% , even the bottom of the receiver has all of the original finish. The case colors on the lever are brilliant. The walnut stocks have never been touched and retain at least 90% of the original varnish and there are no cracks anywhere, not even the common wrist crack seen in so many of these early hi powers. About the only real mentionable flaw is a 1/4" chip at the very bottom of the butt plate that is harly noticeable. Of course, the stock is numbered to the gun on both forend and butt and removing the butt plate reveals the hollowed out stock that allowed the weight to be lessoned ie feather weight. This gun is 101 years old and is C&R eligible. Probably the finest high speed lever gun ever mfg.
