ON LAYAWAY THRU 6/26 A consecutively numbered (5428/9) superlight (5.75lb) cased pair in their maker's oak and leather case, with provenance letter from WR. Fine 30" x 2 11/16" damascus bbls with very good bores, swamped game ribs inscribed with 170 New Bond St address. Single lug system with doll's head patent fastener. Actions have rosette engraving around pins and screws, double triggers, extractors and exhibit no pitting and only traces of color. Stocks are original and very sound each showing good figure , except forend on no 1 gun is a seasoned professional replacement. LOP is 14 7/8" through a 7/8" checkered addition, drops are 1 5/8" and 2 1/8". No 1 bores are R .670/0 and L 678/.014. No 2 R.673/0 and L .673/.002, consistent with proof markings. No. 1 bbls have decent pattern, No. 2 is mostly silver, neither are pitted. Guns pattern no. 1 48% and 74%, no. 2 44% and 54% at 40 yds with Vintagers low pressure plastic wad 7/8 oz. loads. Min wall on each gun is .025. Case is very good, original labels, minor professional repair to handle anchor. Would make a classy quail/grouse setup with one gun for close work and another for mixed conditions. Not too many English pairs have survived intact, and even fewer in this condition.
