Description:
S# 4866, 38-72 W.C.F., 26 inch barrel, antique very good bore with strong rifling and scattered areas of light erosion. This first model flat side rifle was buit in 1896. Features include one piece lever, round top bolt, deep front magazine, first type bordered hammer knurling, and early style dovetailed sporting series 21 front sight. Metal surfaces show 20% of blue in protected areas with balance brown and grey. Wood shows typical marks from use, it may have had some oil wiped on long ago. The receiver shows classic striations from forging. This is an all original flatside 1895 in 38-72 with a round barrel and very shootable bore. A fine piece for the advanced Winchester collector.
