Description:
S3 13349, 8 X 58 Rmm Danish Krag, 30 1/4 inch barrel, bright excellent bore. This rifle came from Newfoundland with verbal provenance to an old sealing company. Rifle was 1867 rolling block converted in 1895 with rehardened action, new hammer, new barrel, and centerfire breech block for the Swedish Military. In 1896 the swedes adopted the mauser bolt rifle, making rolling blocks obsolete. Many were sporterized with shortened barrels, new sights and replaced or altered forends. Rifle shows hard use typical of a company owned sealing rifle with word finish worn through in areas, wood is still sound and shows serial numbers matching action. Action retains 70% case colors with a few small areas of staining. barrel has over 85% blue with scattered light stains. barrel wears a ramp front sight with brass bead, rear sight has a standing and folding leaf. Sling swivels are mounted to butstock and barrel bottom. All numbers observed including action, barrel, butplate , hammer , block and wood (both pieces) match correctly. An interesting rifle with long and diverse history remaining is very good condition with a great bore. Antique
