Description:
This is a fine example of a Colt Model 1895 double action revolver in .38 caliber long colt. This particular revolver belonged to a Pennsylvania Railroad detective/policemen in Allegheny County, PA around 1912. It has a 3 1/2 inch barrel as measured from the frame; 4 inches if measured from the cylinder. The serial number of 233439 on the butt indicates it was manufactured around 1904. The barrel is marked "Colt's PT.F.A. Mfg Co Hartford CT USA Pat Aug 5 84 Nov 6 88 Mar 5 95". Hard rubber grips with rampant Colt symbol at left rear of frame and upper part of grip. Left side of frame shows considerable wear near ejector. Action is solid with no wobble. Cylinder rotates counterclockwise. Bore appears to be in good condition when inspected with bore light.
