Fox, Year 1935, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 7oz, Side by Side Serial Number: 372714 Most will agree the Fox Sterlingworth 16ga. is the best value for a fine small gauge vintage American double in today's marketplace bate. Always built on the 20ga. frame, balanced delightfully 1/4" ahead of the hinge pin, this Sterlingworth, sn372714 built in 1935 is one of the nicest you will see offered for sale. First, IT HAS THE NICEST WOOD I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A STERLINGWORTH, AND IT IS FACTORY WOOD. Second, it retains 90% vivid factory case color, 97% factory blue, 97% factory trigger guard blue, perfect screws, perfect wood to metal fit, perfect checkering, and a gorgeous hand rubbed oil finish on the wood (wood is original but has been restored). You just don't find Fox Sterlingworth guns in this nice of condition and with this nice of wood. Mechanics are crisp and in perfect working order, with barrels tight on hinge and breech face. As McIntosh said, there are plenty of really great Utica/Savage Fox guns out there, and this is one of them, being far superior to most all Sterlingworths you will see in regard to fit and finish, and this one has factory 2 3/4" chambers.
