Description:
U.S. Remington Model 1903-A4 Sniper Rifle, serial # 49929xx, cal. 30-06, with a 24" two groove "RA / Ordnance Bomb / 12-43" dated barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barreled action retains about 95% arsenal gray-green parkerizing, the scope base mounted to it is toning slightly more with some areas of fading. The front band shows remnants of some minor pinprick pitting and is parkerized, the rear band with traces of blue and very good blue on the hand guard ring at the action. The milled bottom metal retains 95% arsenal gray green parkerizing with a few minor scratches on the floor plate and around the rear guard screw. The bolt body and handle are polished bright while the shroud, striker and safety are a fading parkerized gray-brown. The pistol grip American walnut butt stock and hand guard rate excellent with nearly all their original varnish and few light handling marks if any, it is a "K"-stamped Sedgley field replacement stock and is otherwise completely unmarked. The scope rings and windage adjustment screws are blued and support a nice Lyman Alaskan 2 1/2 X telescopic sight serial number 17392, which retains about 92% original blue with some minor ring scratches and light scuffs and handling marks. The scope features a single post reticle and bright optics. Overall a nice example of the Remington-manufactured 1903-A4 sniper which would complement any military collection nicely. Inv.: # 2-1709
