Comments : Built for Louis Christophe, a high end retailer in Brussels. Wonderfully light & well balanced, with well executed large floral scroll engraving, very good quality stock & good case color remaining. This example built by Jules Bury. It was imperative to Liege makers to get these orders, so they produced only their very best quality for Louis Christophe. Christophe’s gunmaking business commenced in 1819. Awarded Royal Warrants by, King of The Netherlands, King Leopold I of Belgium & in the 1850's by Queen Victoria, her German husband Albert and avid shot, valued Belgian guns greatly. Would be interesting to know what the likes of James Purdey & Harris Holland thought of this. After Louis took over from his father they concentrated more on retail and had their guns manufactured by the best of the Liege gunmakers.
