Comments : Best quality, made in 1953 in their own factory as confirmed by their last remaining employee, who is now a consultant to Maison de Chasseur in Brussels. He recognized the serial numbers as being for a pair of their highest quality guns made in house. Mahillon were in the 1950's accredited as gunmakers to the King of Belgium. Considering the competition that still existed in those days, this Royal Warrant is meaningful as to their high quality. Engraving is supposed to be by Lyson Corombelle, but I have not been able to find a signature or initials LC, which she sometimes would hide. The pair was entirely stripped, cleaned checked and reblued in the H&H factory. 28" barrels with 2 3/4 chambers and excellent figured stocks of true French walnut. Forcing cones removed, not re-proofed, # 2 bbl not marked 2 & rib modified. SG 266
