Description:
Manhattan Navy Revolver - Series V - Cal. .36 - 4" Bbl. - SN 694 (1867)  - 1st year production of this series which was made only in 1867 and 1868 -  all matching numbers - 6-shot.  Bore is excellent - bright and shiny with sharp rifling and only a very few spots of very mild roughness - action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up . .Barrel retains about 90% blue with a few areas of light thinning - cylinder has 90% thinning blue and a 99% very sharp and crisp cylinder scene. Frame and loading lever show about 40% fading case colors - guard and backstrap retain 90% silver plating.  Metal is excellent overall with no pits or corrosion - sharp edges and markings - perfect nipples and screws. Grips are excellent, undamaged, and retain 95% + finish and are the desirable "fat" style. The  Manhattan was a very well made revolver and the earlier series were a very popular Civil War sidearm  produced as a competitor to the Colt 1849 Pocket and 1851 Navy models -  later versions were a popular back up revolver in the early West. Only about 9000 of the Series V were produced, making this a fairly scarce  revolver.  This is an outstanding example of a first year production  Series V  Manhattan Navy with lots of original finish and is all original, and in excellent ++ condition - an exceptionally nice early West collectible.
