Description:

Holland and Holland Royal Hammerless Ejector 12 ga. This is a very fine 95%+ piece of art for the discriminating shotgunner or collector. According to the factory log book this gun was #2 of a matched pair of H&H Royals. They were completed in 8/07 and shipped on 9/07. As a matter of strict policy H&H will not give names of customers or shipping address. When this gun left the factory 107 years ago the matched pair bbls. were regulated for 1-1/16oz. of chilled #7 shot. The right tubs were choked .005" or modern skeet and the left tubs were choked .010" or UK 1/4 choke. The stock was made with 1/2 pistol grip with a DC of 1-3/8", DH of 2-1/16" and LOP of 13-13/16; Obviously made for a smaller shooter. Stock is cast off for a right hander at 3/16"; (For both heel and toe). The case has the correct label and is the proper style for the era, 1902-1911. The accoutrements are correct and are also H&H. The case however; most likely marks the time when the pair was split up, as the matched pair would have left the factory with a two gun, fitted case. The relative open chokes and the lighter 1-1/16oz. loads the gun is regulated for indicates that it was most likely made for driven grouse rather than pheasant, which would have been fitted with 30" bbls. and with 1/4 or mod. right bbl. and IM or F in the left. Pheasant guns would be 1-1/8 of #6 or #7s. The gun has proper proof house marks and is proved for nitro powders for 1-1/8oz. max loads. Given the peramiters in which the gun was proved the chambers should measure 2-1/2" to accommodate the then standard 2-1/2" game loads. However, the chambers measure 2-5/8" and do not show a reproof mark. According to UK rules of proof, the gun is out of proof. This is not an issue in the U.S. however, as we have no national proof house. The gun can not be sold overseas without being reproofed. This is a wonderful old British shotgun that is in need of an owner with a deep appriciation of the finer things. Feel free to call with inquiries. Buyer pays actual shipping, handling and insurance.
