Description:
SPRING SALE - For a short time only, I will include a minty NIKON MONARCH 4X16 MILDOT RETICLE variable scope, which I will mount and bore sight for you. This is one of Nikon's top scopes, The price in the listing is for the rifle without scope and mounts, so inclding the mounted Nikon scope, is indeed a great sale bonus. This is a rare opportunity for someone. This nearly new, full custom professionally built .257 Ackley Improved right-hand 13.5 LOP deluxe bolt action rifle, was totally custom built, a year or so ago, by TRAILS END GUNWORKS of San Angelo, Texas, who are well known for their great custom rifles and custom gun work. All metal work on this rifle, including the full custom bolt, was done by Ben Lewis, and all stock work on this rifle was done by Steven Larsen. The action is a 1960's Winchester Model 70 action. The barrel is a 22 inch #2 contour match grade barrel by C.R. Shaw. This rifle is exceptionally accurate. It shoots very well with either the .257 Ackley Improved handloaded ammunition, or Hornady 95 grain factory .257 Roberts ammunition. When I was talking with Ben Lewis about the rifle, Ben recalled the gun being exceptionally accurate just using Hornady 95 grain factory 257 Roberts ammunition. He said he shot a 3/4 inch group with the Hornady .95 grain .257 Roberts ammo that he was using to case fire the cases into 257 Ackley Improved cases, so that they could be reloaded into 257 Ackley ammunition. He said that this was unusual, as normally you just shoot the .257 Roberts ammo to case fire them to create the more accurate .257 Ackley cases. In other words, it was unusual for the factory ,257 Roberts ammo to shoot that kind of accuracy in a .257 Ackley chambered custom rifle. As you can see in the photos, this custom rifle has many custom features that show in the photos, and many other custom features in the action, bolt and floor plate, that do not show in the photos. This rifle features: custom interior action work; custom feed ramp to feed the 257 Ackley ammunition; the action and bolt face are fully trued out; the lugs are lapped; the follower was custom built for this specific rifle; custom built butterknife bolt handle & full custom built .257 Ackley Bolt (custom built by Ben): a great Pacific Tool & Gauge floorplate assemby; bedded to promote accuracy; great hand cut checkering and hand rubbed oil finishing (custom done by Steve Larsen); solid Ebony forearm tip; Rosewood grip cap with Mesquite inserts; English style inletted Talley swivel bases; Neider style inletted steel buttplate at 13.5 inch length of pull, It would be hard to find a nicer custom built .257 Ackley bolt action rifle with which to go hunting. If you have been looking for a nice custom rifle, you might just want to take a long look at this gun. I would never consider selling it, but at age 75 have decided to do so. Since this is a usable operating firearm. I will need a valid copy of a current FFL to whom to ship the firearm. It can be emailed to me or included with your mailed payment. Upon receipt of payment, and the FFL copy, the gun will be shipped to your receiving dealer via Fed Ex. Payment to be made via Bank Cashier's Check, Bank Money Order or Postal Money Orders only. Please add $50.00 to the purchase amount for shipping when you mail your funds. The rifle will be shipped like I would want it shipped to me. It will be placed in a silicone SackUp gun sock, and then placed in a plastic hardcase, which will then be taped solidly secure, and then the hardcase will be placed in a cardboard shipping box.
