Description:
PENDING SALE-The is the most powerful of the Sharps rifles; the 50-140 Sharps. The historic loading called for a 638gr lead bullet at 1,438 fps, approaching 3,000 ft/lbs of energy. In modern times, bullets from 500 to 700 grains are used, both lead and jacketed, and with either black powder or smokeless. If loaded near the top of its capabilities, the rifle produces power equal to the 500 Nitro Express round.
This rifle was set up for long-range shooting, with a 34" heavy octagonal barrel, a tall CSA tang sight with eye cup, and a windage-adjustable front sight with level. The rifle also has set triggers, a Pewter nosecap, upgraded Fancy wood, a pistol grip stock, and a checkered shotgun-style steel buttplate. The action has the optional polished finish.
I will include with the rifle 60 brass cases and a set of reloading dies. I have a Galco slip-on pad that helps mitigate recoil with the heavy loads used for long-range hunting. This rifle was $3,500 when new.
