Own One of Scotland’s Best. Harkoms are very well made and extremely hard to find. Sidelocks are even rarer still. This beautifully engraved Scottish double is very well balanced and comes with 30” barrels sleeved by Boss and so marked on the rib. The patent number 22894 for the Boss Single Trigger that was installed at manufacture is engraved on the bottom of the frame as was the custom of the time. Made in Edinburgh in 1904-5 the serial number is 2291. *** Adorned in the distinctive Harkom Celtic style engraving pattern by Sumner with Scottish rope borders around the sideplates. Full coverage on the frame, fences, toplever and forearm furniture. Very crisp engraving that looks like it just came out of the back shop. *** The 30” barrels are nitro proofed, chambered for 2-1/2” cartridges, and topped with a smooth concave game style rib. Bluing is in good shape with just a hint of thinning near the muzzles and a few scratches here and there. Bores are shiny and bright. Action is tight on the face. Rib is marked “Boss & Co. Ltd”. Right barrel bored 0.729 with a constriction of 0.000 for Cylinder choke with a minimum wall thickness of 0.025. Left barrel is bored 0.731 with a constriction of 0.010 for Improved Cylinder choke with a minimum wall thickness of 0.027. *** The gun is stocked in figured walnut with recently refreshed checkering. Straight grip and splinter forearm. Dimensions are 15” over a 5/8” pad by 1-3/8” by 2”. The stock has a well done recently refreshed oil finish. There are a few handling marks from normal usage. Overall weight is 7lb 2oz. *** Perfect for game or clays. This a rare opportunity to own a sidelock made by one of the finest Scottish makers.
