Description:
Here's a desirable Nazi era Luger pistol! Manufactured by Mauser in 1937, this pistol was among the last to be finished with the traditional rust blue finish and straw colored small parts (before the change over to the cheaper/faster full salt blue finish in mid-1937). It is estimated that only about 37,000 of these were manufactured (less than 1/3 of 1937 production). What makes this Luger particularly interesting is that it has survived with BOTH of the factory original matching magazines! Overall condition is quite good with normal finish wear to the usual high spots. There are some old dings and associated patina along the underside of the barrel. The finish on the grip straps is still quite strong and there is little in the way of corrosion on the gun. I'd grade the original blue finish at about 93-94% overall. Good straw color remains on the small parts and I would rate it about about 70%. All serial numbered parts are matching with the exception of the left grip panel which was replaced at some point. The grips are in very good condition with only light wear, no cracks, chips or repairs. Both magazines are correctly serial numbered, including the letter suffix and proper E/63 acceptance stamp. The spare magazine is correctly marked "+". There are NO import markings on this pistol. The mechanics are in good working order with everything working exactly as it should. The bore is in fine shape too with bright, sharp rifling and just a very slight bit of frost in the grooves...a 9 on a 10-scale. In addition to the matched magazines, this desirable Luger comes with the original 1936 dated holster which is maker marked "WILM BRAND/HEIDELBERG" and army accepted. The holster is in very good condition with with light wear but no holes, tears, loose stitching, or non-original markings. Lastly the original loading tool is included. It is marked with the "W154 in brackets" acceptance which was in use during 1935. Overall, a great Nazi era Luger with two original matching magazines...a very tough item to find these days!!
