Description:
1952 (lever boss code 3D) Savage 99R (serial #656828) in 300 Savage with 24" barrel and a good bore. The stock, butt plate & forearm all have matching assembly numbers. The stock is capped and hand checkered and starting in 1950 it has the heavier comb with sling eyes attached, but the comb is not grooved. It has the 10 5/8" long forearm without the earlier groove at the front. Also the checkering, starting in 1950, was only on the sides of the foream. This 99 was factory drilled & tapped for scope mounting. Bluing on this 99 is good and the wood has a repaired crack on the wrist. If you have been waiting for a good Savage to take afield, you may have just found it.
