EXCEPTIONAL WAR OF 1812 VIRGINIA MANUFACTORY FLINTLOCK MUSKET DATED 1812. 100% original and complete and the finest 1st Year Second Model we have ever seen. Only 3700 manufactured and very low survival rate in original flint configuration with most converted to percussion at the early run up to the Civil War by the State of Virginia. 58” o/a with 42” smoothbore .69 cal. barrel proofed with large oval “P” proof. Lock signed “RICHMOND” and dated 1812 behind the hammer and “VIRGINIA” and “MANUFACTORY” forward of the hammer. Stock with large and crisp “JN” inspector’s cartouche. Superb condition with the original metal patina and very crisp markings. Stock with all the original arsenal oil finish and sharp edges about the lock and side plate. Original swivels and ramrod. Fine working order and very nice bore. Only other one we have seen of this early 1812 date that is complete and unaltered is in Giles Cromwell’s book “THE VIRGINIA MANUFACTORY OF ARMS” on page 54. Very scarce War of 1812 musket.
