CAVALRY CARBINE WITH TEXAS STAR GRAFFITI CIRCA 1864. Serial numbered in the 10,xxx range and all matching and original. Very good condition overall with all the original finish on the wood and the original crisp patina on the metal. Stock with three “Texas” style stars carved on each side. These are nicely aged and date to the period of use. The initials “J D” are carved on the left butt as well. Sharp U.S. Inspector’s cartouche stamped on the left wrist forward of the rear lock plate screw head. Working order and nice bore. Note that the the 1st and 2nd Texas U.S. Cavalry Volunteers were armed with Burnside Carbines. SOLD Antique: Yes |
