Description:
 Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine 52 Caliber. In 1867 the government had many of the percussion carbines Carbines it had on hand converted from percussion to cartridge at the Sharps Rifle Company Factory.  They were all converted and refinished at the factory to government specifications. Markings left side of receiver: Sharps Pat. 9/12/1848, on lock near center are faint: metal markings are very good and readable on right side. Walnut stock with oil finish, inspectors marks DFC in a ribbon cartouche on left side of carbine.  There are two additional marks stamped into the stock, a Z right below the trigger guard and a small C below that. Bore is relined with three groove rifling, Serial number C 16855.
 
CONDITION: Barrel and sight are 98% bright blue, only a little bluing missing around the muzzle.  Blue is still bright.  There is case hardening on receiver, breach block, lock, lever, trigger plate, and butt plate 85-90% of case coloring remains overall. Wood has numerous dents dings etc. and E30n stamped on right of stock. Screws are all in excellent plus condition with 90% of the blue and none of them have been buggered.  Bore appears to be unfired there is not even a trace of rust or corrosion in the bore or chamber. Works perfectly mechanically.  (13-12)
