Description:
Offered is a wonderful Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe take down in the most popular caliber, 45-70. Special features include a 22" round tapered barrel, take down, half magazine, deluxe checkered pistol grip shotgun butt (checkered steel)walnut and sling eyes. Gem mint mirror bore and tight as new action. This combination became a common variation in the 1920-30's but is extremely rare for a rifle this age as mfg in 1898. Barrel and tube retain almost all of the factory blue original finish with sharp as new markings. Left side of receiver retains at least 90% high polish factory blue with patina on take down forward ring. Right side has a little more high edge wear so lets say 85% while bottom still has half or more of the blue. The balance is turning a clean soft blue brown patina. Lever has some brilliant case colors remaining. Wood has sharp checkering never touched with some oil darkening on metal edges and a couple of the usual bumps none of which bear any separate notation besides one little 3/4" area where stock meets receiver at bottom right. Serial #118613 made in 1898. Fine 45-70 loaded with special features. I have the Winchester print out on this gun and everything is listed matches the gun except letter states rubber butt plate on shotgun but and it now has the checkered steel butt plate, either an error or the plastic broke and was replaced with proper steel checkered Winchester shotgun butt plate and no mention of sling eyes.
