CIVIL WAR ERA HORSTMANN U.S.M.C. MUSICIAN’S SWORD AND SCABBARD CIRCA 1860’S. Only 31” o/a with 21” original length blade with etched “U.S.M.C.” floral panel on the right side. Ricasso etched in a rectangular cartouche “HORSTMANN/PHILA”. Turned down counter guard. Brass hilt with pommel engraved with “46”Similar to the Army U.S. Model 1840 N.C.O. sword but made for the Marine Corps in this short length for use of the Marine Band N.C.O.’s. fine and all original with blade original length with proper taper and point. Scabbard with two leather creases but still sound. Drag with dents. Blade etching very fine. Very scarce.
