Description:
Introduced in 1922, an improvement on the Model 1897, the same year the famous Marlins Bulls Eyes was first inset in their rifle stocks. This is an early four digit no prefex rifle so was made in the late 1920's more than likely. The tang is stamped Marlin Model 39. It features the 24" octagon barrel with the case colored receiver and fire blued bolt. This rifle has the plain pistol grip stock and Marlin logo shotgun butt plate. It has a similar era Lyman Model 438 tube scope. Now to condition which remains in lovely untouched state. The barrel and tube retain most of their factory original blue finish with usual wear to high area edges. Receiver has about 30-40% case colors remains fading out and toning a bit. Bolt retains almost all of the fire blue finish as does most of the original screws. Wood is in fine condition with no mentionable scars and no cracks. Bore is clean and strong. Action like new and locks up like bank vault. Blue on scope is all there with one small dent on side of body. No usual chip at toe which is perfect. Really sharp early first model pre war Model 39 that shoots all standard .22's. Should be a tack driver with this fine old pre war scope which still retains perfect optics.
