Description:
1000 of these Mills belts were built in 1902 in response to reports from the field that the cartridges were being lost from the "Orndorff Belt". This belt was designed to carry 100 rounds 10 per pouch. The design was to have the leather flaps protected and secure the rounds. The front left flap is marked "Rock Island Arsenal". For reference see pages 346-353 of "American Military and Naval Belts 1812-1902" by R. Stephen Dorsey. A rare piece for the U.S. military or Krag collector.
