Description:
Williams & Powell cased set rifle and shotgun. This is a matched set with same serial number on both guns. Both are underlever hammer guns. Probably made around 1870. The rifle is chambered for a 577 2 inch case similar to the Snider, may actually be an early Snider with metal based paper cartridge. Brass can be made from Snider cases. Die comes with set. Has brass bullet mold for rifle. Barrels are 28 inches and are damascus, have been reblacked at some point. Bores are excellent and very crisp. Has one standing and three folding express sights sighted to 250 yards. Barrel is engraved with #1 on top of rib. Also has engraved #1 on rear tang. Locks and all other metal still has lots of color case. Wood is in excellent shape with very minor handling marks. Appears to be original finish. LOP 14 1/2 to steel butt plate.
Shotgun is made to match rifle and is 12 ga with 30 inch damascus barrels. Nice patina finish and some very minor pitting on outside. Bores are mirror inside. The wood is excellent condition with original finish with minor handling marks. LOP is 14 5/8 to horn butt plate. Shotgun has engraved #2 on rear tang. Case is oak and leather with lots of wear.
