Description:
Serial #3504, 12mm Pinfire, 6” ribbed octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. The barrel and frame have a matching mottled gray patina while the cylinder retains about 90% of the original blue finish with silvering along the edges and projections. Light floral scroll and geometric motif engraving were added at some point in the past and indeed, the engraving on the topstrap crosses a filled hole at the rear of the rib. The gripstraps have some dark freckling mixing with light oxidation along the butt and on the lanyard swivel. The lock-up is still tight, the mechanism is fully functional, and the checkered European walnut grips have some wear and smoothing at the butt on either side but are otherwise in fine shape. This is a fine example of a well made pinfire revolver. Also included is an excellent period brown leather military flap holster that has light crazing and flaking along the flex points and strong original stitching. The holster is in fine shape and is still fully serviceable. {Ref. “Systeme Lefaucheaux” by Chris C. Curtis; 2002} Antique
