Purdey & Sons Audley House, South Audley Street, London, England: A 12 Bore Bar Action Sidelock Self Opening Side by Side Game Gun Finished in 1987, Factory Original 26" Ejector Chopper Lump barrels at .732 .011 & .018" (Imp.Cyl. & Mod.), Original 2 3/4" chambers, London Proved at 3 1/4 Tons, Totally Correct Bore size and chokes on both barrels, Bushed strikers, Single non-selective trigger, Rolled trigger guard edge for the right hand, Beavertail forend, Straight hand stock at 14 13/16 x 1 5/8 x 2 7/16" over a checkered butt, Cast-off for the right hand, Excellent wood with deep black/brown contrast, 6 lbs. 12 oz., 95% coverage of Purdey rose & scroll, A Gold inlaid Bobwhite Quail on the bottom of the frame with James Purdey in Gold on the bottom and both locks, This piece remains in excellent condition since it left Purdey in 1987 and has not been used much, The barrel blue at 98%, The original case colors are at 85%, The stock finish at 97%, The checkering at 99%. This piece with correct bores, original chokes and chamber length has a lot of life left and remains smack on the face with excellent plus bores. It is cased in the maker's leather motorcase trunk with cleaning accessories. This piece has had 2 owners in 27 years and both were very good custodians of this best game gun. I knew the man that ordered it from Purdey and he ordered it to hunt Bobwhite Quail in Texas.
