Description:
This extraordinary firearm appears to be an excellent reproduction of the 1847 Colt Walker, "perhaps" made by the famed gunsmith Tom Hass.  Only 1,100 original Walkers were made and due to overcharging of the cyclinders and other mistakes less than 300 have survived.  It fired a 220 grain .44 caliber colonical bullet or roundball with a charge of 60 grains of black powder making it the most powerful handgun in the world until the .357 Magnum showed up in the 30's.  The markings on this gun are all in the correct place.  It is marked "A COMPANY No 18" on the barrel, cylinder, receiver, in front of the trigger guard, and bottom of the grip.   On top of the barrel it is marked "ADDRESS. SAM L COLT  NEW - YORK CITY" while on the right side it is marked "US" over "1847".  There is a "P" on the underside of the brass trigger guard.  Interestingly enough, gun number "18" has not been accounted for to date.
