Description: The Model 78 was the forerunner of the Model 1885 falling block and based on John Browning's first patent for a falling block action. This gun was no "Safe Queen", as evidenced by the obvious signs of field use. The previous owner took this gun out and used it for its intended purpose on numerous occasions. SOLD Manufacturer: 1976 by Miroko in Japan Caliber Info: 6 mm Remington Metal Condition: Bluing on barrel and receiver is in good condition, even and deep with nearly 98% coverage. Right side of receiver shows minor freckling on the finish under certain lighting conditions, as well as one tiny contact nick located approximately 1/2" above th Wood Condition: While beautifully grained, the stock is moderately scratched on the right side with additional nicks/chips in the finish at the leading edge of the comb and scattered throughout. The forend has two chips in the finish on the right side below the forward Bore Condition: Bore is bright with strong rifling but does show some small patches of very light pitting Barrels: 26" Round barrel Stock: Monte Carlo high comb with cheekpiece, checkered pistol grip walnut. The fixed swivels were removed and detachable sling swivel stud were added at some point by a previous owner.
