Description:
In the first photo is a 5 1/2" Colt New Service. And as the front sight is not in bottom pouch, I believe the holster maybe takes a 6 1/2" barreled large frame gun.No makers name but the numbers 1953 over 37. Which are probably catalog numbers and 1953 may not necessarly mean a date. This type holster dates back to the late 1890s.An early Western holster maker, Al Furstnow of Miles City,Montana ,is associate with the design. In one photo is a page out of Heiser,s No.38 catalog and they call this type ,Heiser Original Safety Spring Holster. The holster is really in nice condition for age and is made of good quality leather.A minor condition problem is the cross stitching of upper shoulder straps. On end is snapped off and easily replaced with new thin leather strips.Since I mentioned possibly for a 6 1/2" barrel, would it be for a large frame Smith & Wesson?  SALE PENDING
