Description:
This 1933 pattern dagger measures 13 1/2" overall with an 8 5/8? straight, single-edged blade that has a mixture of original factory polish plus mild cleaning marks where scattered spots of oxidation were removed at some point. The ?Alles für Deutschland? motto is still crisp, as is the highly unusual Malsch & Ambronn ?water pumper? trademark on the reverse. The hilt fittings are in very good condition and have bright nickel with a few scattered spots of freckling and a crisp ?Sa? (Gau Sachsen) marking on the reverse of the counterguard. The hardwood grip is lightly worn and retains about 80-85% of the original varnish and the S.A. rune inlay and eagle are in very good shape with some minor freckling here and there. The metal scabbard has a of barely noticeable dents along the body and retains 75-80% of the original brown anodized finish with a mixed brown-gray patina on the balance and specks of dark freckling throughout and the spherical tip of the chape has a slight impact dent. The hanger has loop has been re-attached at some point but is done very well. Malsch & Ambronn-made daggers are extremely rare and quite desirable in any condition and this example is in good plus-very good condition overall.
