Description:
This bayonet fits the French M1866 Chassepot Rifle. Quillion is marked with a small "L" in a diamond, no other marks show. Brass grip shows dark patina on pommel and inside grooves and is brighter on grip area. Spring, button and guard show dark old iron patina. Blade has been polished bright with a few scattered areas of light pitting. Scabbard has a dark blotchy patina with traces of blue and quite visible braze line. Frog loop is missing. Throat top is marked with a "2" next to a small shield with a "3" in center.
