Sharps 1874 ""Big 50"" .50-70-450 also known as .50 1¾"" cal. Made in 1875. This is a really nice .50 caliber sharps sporting rifle. The 30” barrel has a mixture of the original blue finish mixed with patina. The frame has a mottled appearance where the case colors have turned. Wood is very good. Forearm has the Hartford collar which was a feature of the early guns made in Hartford. This gun has double set trigger and the action works perfectly. The bore is very good. There are small spots of pitting, but the bore has strong rifling and only minimal use. This gun was shipped to A.J. Plate in San Francisco. Very nice Sharps and very difficult to find a 50 caliber in this condition!
