Description:
Inv. 5112   Luger DWM American Eagle Test Luger Model 1900, Caliber 9 mm, Serial Number 66XX. This has to be the ultimate American Eagle Test Luger. Serial number is right near the middle of the 1000 unit batch sent to the U.S. Army for testing. Further, when the government decided against the gun, military records indicate that the guns were put in storage and eventually sold to Francis Bannerman the famous surplus arms dealer. The records show that this particular serial number was in the middle of that batch of 700 Lugers. Bannerman, then made the lot available to the public. The gun has retained 99.8% of the original factory blued finish. There are no pits, pinpricks or surface flakes anywhere. The loss is restricted to some very light side plate and muzzle edge silvering. The strawed parts also retain at 99.8% of the original factory firing. The surface under safety has not been blued which is also 100% correct. All parts match and are numbered in the proper location for an Eagle. The checkered walnut grips are almost perfect except for a small area on the left panel that is slightly depressed probably due to something lying on it. There are no points broken off in this area. The gun comes with one nickel plated, unnumbered walnut based magazine which is also correct. The bore is factory new, razor sharp, mirror bright, and has the appearance of being unused. If there is a finer American Test Eagle out there it probably still resides in the Springfield Arsenal Museum. A finer center piece for a Luger collection would be difficult to find indeed.      $9495.
