This rare antique 1881 40-60 has it all but engraving. With a 10XX serial # it had to be more than likely a first year production (Records start at 4000 for 3rd year). It has a superb bore - a 9++ . It has deluxe wood. It has a nickel receiver forend and butt plate and the balance is special order browned ( not brown like 'near rust' condition ) It has a special order Swiss but plate as well. Special order Globe front sight and special order medium staff vernier tang sight. The wood is simply gorgeous and has few handling marks. The barrel and tube 'browning' is almost all there. Address lines are crisp and sharp. Nickel on receiver is about 80%. Much of the butt plate nickel has flaked. The action is snappy and sharp and shows little wear. This is a real prize for advanced rare special option collectors. The pictures tell the story . It may be a one of a kind special order - but I am not an expert with Marlins.
