Description: This is a walnut stocked dummy Martini musket measuring 45 1/2" long but is missing the spring-loaded, blunt-ended telescopic "bayonet". These interesting items were an early WWI training device, normally made without the cupped metal handguard, and were made by various contractors like Greener, Westley Richards, and Webley & Scott. This example is unmarked and, although missing the "blade", does still have the internal buffer spring inside the iron barrel. The walnut stock is in fine shape and has some scattered small handling marks and blemishes in the old varnish finish including some stable with-the-grain cracks at the base of the forend. This is a hard to find item for the British or military collector and would make a great display piece. SOLD Manufacturer: British Model: Fencing Musket |
