Description:
This is an extremely nice Winchester Model 1892 ('92) saddle ring carbine with 20" barrel chambered in 32-20, built in 1924, serial number 929xxx. This carbine is in Very Fine+ to EXC overall condition, with perfect mechanical function. Original finish remaining on the barrel and magazine tube is 97%. The factory stampings on the barrel are deep, sharp and factory crisp. The metal has never been cleaned, polished or refinished. The rear sight is a standard carbine ladder style in excellent functional condition. The receiver is a grteat, smooth patina, toning and fading with a great antique appearance. The stampings on the tang are all excellent and the receiver has not been buffed or refinished. The walnut stocks retain excellent finish overall with only a few minor wear marks, but no splits, cracks or missing pieces. The wood appears all original and is proud to the metal all around, showing no losses from sanding or otherwise. May have been some light oil added, but the condition of the wood is very far superior to that of typical carbines. Overall, a very, very nice, tight original 1892 carbine with a great original look, has a very fine bore, and shoots very well.
