Cooper Pocket Model DA Revolver - 2nd Model - 1st Variation - Pittsburgh Mfg. - Cal .31 - 4" Bbl. - 5-shot -SN 26 (1859 Approx).- all matching numbers. Bore is excellent with sharp rifling and only a couple of very light rough spots. Action is excellent in DA, but timing is off very slightly in SA on one stop. Metal is excellent overall with no rust, pits, or corrision - perfect nipples and screws. Barrel, cylinder, guard, loading lever, and backstrap retain 85% to 90% thinning blue - frame has drifted to a medium gray patina with hints of darkened case color - grips are excellent, undamaged, and retain 95% finish. A rear sight has been dovetailed into the rear of the barrel - most likely a very nicely done period installation, otherwise this Cooper is all original. A very rare variation as only about 100 of these were made in Pittsburgh. The Coopers were a popular Civil War back-up revolver due to their small size and DA capability and offered competition to the Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver. This one with the low serial and desirable Pittsburgh address is in near excellent condition and will make a nice addition to a Civil War collection. SOLD Antique: Yes |
