Description:

A brand new old stock Curtiss-Wright link rod (Part number: #415579) with its original box dated: Jan. 28, 1944. These rods were used in the Curtiss-Wright 1820-97 engines of the B17 Flying Fortress bombers. (The Curtiss-Wright engine model: 1820-97, was a 9 cylinder radial displacing 1,820 cubic inches.)

The part number is etched into the beam of this rod and also on the box label. The rod weight etched into the beam is 3.02 lbs. The serial number stamped into theof the rod is: A86282. This part is brand new and was polished to a near mirror finish at the time of manufacture. Only the first photo gives a fair representation of the finish because most of the rod is still covered with the original coating of “cosmoline” preservation oil. (Later rods were shot-peened.)

This rod is fully serviceable and is without a spec of rust. After all of these years there is some oxidation to the lead overlay on the bushing of the knuckle-pin bore. Before placing this rod into service the knuckle-pin bore would be stripped of its existing lead overlay and flashed with fresh lead-indium anyway, so this is a non-issue.

Priority mail or service of the buyer's choice will be used. Shipping weight will be about four lbs. So, shipping costs from my zip code of 97124 to yours can easily be computed.
