The metal is VERY nice for its age and well above average for what is basically a no-finish gun, and it has almost no pitting or serious wear anywhere. The overall look is much above what one usually sees for an old cowboy Colt …..but suffice to say this (…and this is a VERY important fact!!)…that since many, if not most pre-1898 Single Actions have been restored, enhanced, and/or “juiced-up” to some degree (especially the very highly sought after and very desirable militaries), that one should always consider the possibility that these early Colts have had of some degree of restoration during their long lifetime. The earlier the gun is dated, the more likely such work has been done …and consequently, this gun has been valued and priced with that possibility in mind. In MY opinion, this revolver has possibly had the backstrap and cylinder number refreshed and the grips look much too good to be 135 years old. There are a lot of photos to this VERY desirable early Civilian S/A , so if they all don’t load (there are about 15 in all), just email me and I will forward them to you by return email. This is a real opportunity to own a real piece of the Wild West frontier cartridge handgun …and one of the fastest value appreciators in the antique gun field. VG/VG+ $4495 SOLD Antique: Yes |
