The action is crisp timing correct nice crisp action. the finish retains about 40% original blue with a nice pleasing aged patina on the octogon barrel. Observe the sharp edges and crisp barrel address and marking s. All numbers match including wedge which you can see irradecent nitric blue.The back strap displays 98% original heavy silver plate covering all of the trigger guard and housing. The receiver shows vivid case colors with pretty burst of blue on the hammer and frame as well as load lever. the bore has sharp rifeling with bright shine..the cylinder scene is about 80% vivid and is easy to see. the nipple look good no chips the wood grips retain 80% or better of varnish with no cracks does show surface scratches of the last 142 some years.......I would think this was a special order peice serial # is 330,xxx ca 1872
my over all opinion of this colt 49 is lovely peice and was well taken care of though 5 wars.
