Bore is like new - bright with sharp rifling and no spotting, etc. - action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is about excellent overall with sharp edges and markings - barrel shows a few minor dings and some light corrosion at the upper rear in front of the cylinder - perfect nipples and screws - cylinder has a light but clear and visible scene. Barrel and cylinder have about 60% -70% blue mixing and thinning to brown - frame has drifted to a mottled gray patina - guard and backstrap are unpolished and have a nice mellow tone with about 20% + silver remaining. Walnut grips have been very nicely refinished and the left grip shows a couple of dents that are barely noticeable, possibly from holster - fit to frame is excellent. This is a very nice example of the desirable early Hartford Colt Navy in FINE condition, fully functional, and except for grip finish, all original, and will make a fine addition to a Colt or Civil War collection.
