Lazarino Cominazzo marked barrel Snaphaunce Lock pistol. Lock is marked A. Cominazzo. This is an Ottoman pistol with German silver mounts with quarter moon and stars motifs. Hammer, frizzen, and frizzen spring are chiseled. Lockplate is engraved with floral motifs. Sliding pan cover snaps into place smartly. Barrel length is 12 3/4” and overall length is 18 1/2”. Ottoman Snaphaunce pistols are scarce. This pistol, in our opinion, has a European made lock and probably the barrel with spurious Cominazzo markings. The stock and German silver furniture are, in our opinion, Ottoman or more specifically Balkan as was often the case. In any event, an Ottoman pistol with Snaphaunce system is certainly desirable in a Middle Eastern collection.
