Description:
An unusual Ballard marked receiver with a heavy octagonal barrel stamped :REBORED & RIFLED BY J. STEVENS A. T. & Co. CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. The barrel is 28" with a clean rifled bore, and the chamber is larger than a .22 LR but not a mag. Has a front blade sight, and rear dovetail is filled and has a tang mounted peep sight looks like a Lyman. The American walnut stocks are clean with no issues and appear to have the original finish.Frame has sparse traces of color case hardening, as does the crescent steel butt-plate. This heavy barrel gun looks like it was made for competitive shooting. SN 231XX. A good strong gun made long ago!
