Description:
A 3 band rifle with the lock plate showing only Barnett/London and no governmental marks. The action marked only "Snider's Patent" and some London view marks on the breech and a partial London firing proof on the barrel. The 36 1/2" barrel has a bright 3 groove bore with very minor frosting. The cleaning rod has the square tip and the hammer nose is cupped. All furniture is brass and shows no British or other proofs. Gray brown metal and very fine condition wood with no markings. Considering the source this piece was probably used as a ship's gun and may have been used as a sealing gun as well. Antique
